The Church Is The Cause Of So Much Injustice

Amos 5:1-27

2 Corinthians 7:2-16

What are the injustices you have faced in life?
“Church is the cause of so much injustice”
– from the heart
– an excuse
– our own inconsistencies

God and Justice
Proverbs 16:8, “Better a little with righteousness than much with injustice
Jeremiah 22:13, “Woe to him who builds his palace by unrighteousness, his upper rooms by injustice, making his countrymen work for nothing, not paying for their labour“.
Rev 15:3-4, ”Great and marvellous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.
Justice is a reflection of the character of God

What do you mean by Justice?
‘Justice is the quality of being just or fair’.
‘the principal of moral righteousness or equity, the conformity to a moral rightness in action or attitude.’
‘justice is the conformity to truth, fact or sound reason’.
Whose world view?

Qu: Whose claim to truth is real and valid?

Has the church been unjust?
Has the church, using God’s concept of justice, been unjust?
1)    Church members and church leaders are not all Christian.
2)    Not one of us is perfect.

The Solution to injustices in the church
1)    Admit when you made a mistake and seek forgiveness from those you have wronged

2)    Get more serious about God and the Bible

3)    Don’t give God the flick

4)    Analyse yourself

Church injustice and obedience to the word of God.

No perfect justice until Jesus returns

One final challenge

Question: How are you standing up for the cause of those treated unjustly (in the eyes of God) – without losing your gospel focus and your desire to serve honour and obey Jesus name.
