The OT sacrifices NEVER worked – v1-4
Hebrews 10:1 …NEVER make someone who is a sinner, perfect
God’s will – Hebrews 10:10, “and by that will (God’s will), we have been made Holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all”.
What Jesus did – v5-14
Psalm 51, “you do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken and contrite spirit, a broken and contrite heart O God, you will not despise”
Verse 10, “and by that will, we have been made Holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus once for all.”
Firstly… it is the will of the Father that we are made Holy.
Secondly … the sacrifice of Jesus body was the means that we are made holy.
Thirdly … once for all time people and for all time.
God’s plan – testified to by Spirit and Word – v15-18
God’s Spirit testifies … through the understanding and application of scripture.
The New covenant was part of God’s revealed plan all along.
For us today
1) Good things coming
2) Complete forgiveness
