1)    Jesus arrest was no surprise

2)    Jesus embraces his arrest and none of his disciples are lost
John 10:17-18, “The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life – only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father
… not even the Roman army is able to take Jesus life
… all drew back and fell to the ground.
… Jesus commands those who came to arrest him to let the go.

John 17:12 … kept the disciples safe

3)    Jesus is drinking the cup of the Fathers wrath
Verse 11, “Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?
Why? – to bear the punishment we ALL deserve for sinning against God in order to turn away the Father’s righteous anger.
